CHESTNUT STREET CHAPEL
The Developers Collaborative acquired the Chestnut Street chapel building from the Chestnut Street United Methodist Church as part of the congregation's decision to relocate to newer facilities that would better serve the ministry. While the highly-successful Chestnut Street Lofts rose on the church's former parking lot next door, the Developers Collaborative decided to renovate the historic Tudor-style building into office space.
The Chapel is located in the heart of Portland's central business district, on the same block as City Hall and within easy walking distance of the Old Port, the Congress Street arts district, and the redeveloping Bayside neighborhood.
As a testament to the building's suitability for workspace, the Developers Collaborative moved into the top floor to become one of the renovated building's first tenants. Since then, the Chapel has become a collaborative workspace for a small cluster of design and development-oriented businesses, including Alpha Architects, S.W. Cole Engineering, and Alan Holt's Community Design Studio.
